Seems to be sp. 'Atabapo' to me as well ... beauties, for some reason I think they are more beautiful than even rotties ... but after peering through my books, could be the true severus as well. The pattern is identical and they are found in Colombia.

Hopefully someone that knows sev's better can tell which of the two they are.

I wonder if they are H. severus and "Atabapo" refers to the locality? Speculating here but if H. severus is the only mouth brooding species in the genus and these guys are mouth brooders...

Both H. severus and H. notus as well as sp. 'Atabapo' are all mouthbrooders. The Atabapo sev, at this time, is similiar to severus but believe to be a differant species. Well at least by those that found them.

i would have to agree, it puts my red severum to shame. sell them in pairs so people breed
