I was just givin this guy, the guy who gave him to me had no idea what he is. I keep africans and I honestly know nothing about south americans, but I'm pretty sure he's a south american cichlid.
Sorry about the bad pics.

Also if anyone can possiably tell the sex from this pic please let me know.

Thanks

Looks like a Short body JD or a stunted JD OR a JDx something. But JD something.

Definately a hybrid, I have many of these or ones that look very similiar.
Mine are the result of a cross between a Carpintis and a hybrid midas.
The male or papa is carpintis (see avatar pic) and could very well be a mix also. The female was (now deceased:() a hybrid who started out looking like a red terror, morphed into a piebald looking midas and eventually lost just about all her bars and black splotches until she looked like a very ugly redish pinkish fish who was horny and mean as hell at all times. Someones dream wife perhaps :banher:.
I believe these and others like them are just rejects from the Super Red Texas breeders out there.
Disclaimer - I am not a super red texas breeder or a wanna be super red texas breeder. I just happened to have 2 fish in the same tank that started spawning and i just didn't have the heart to destroy all the offspring - even though many were used as feeders for my other CA/SA cichlid collection.
