He looks like an L240, but the L107 is very similar and they are wondering if they are just two far ends of the same species. :)

BTW, nice fire eel.:)

OOPS! Sorry, I totally botch that. I meant to say an L029 not L107 (my ADD at work :nilly:).

Anyways, planetcatfish reports that:

"This Venezuelan species (L240) is very similar to Leproacanthicus galaxias and may well turn out to represent the Northern limit of that species range. The unpaired fins of adult fish have very few or no spots at their tips giving the appearance of a black edge."

Hope that helps a little more than throwing out that random number! :grinno:

That would have been my guess too mate. Hes a real stunner, looks exactly like an L14 but black. You must have one of the best collections of L-numbers in the UK by now, especially with that new addition of yours:eek::eek:

The collection is pretty strong now. It stands at:

15" Panaque Suttoni (male)
12" Fully Spotted L330 (male)
13" L14 (male)
11" L14 (female)
10" L029
9" L240
8" L310
7" L091
5" L600
5" L240
4" L066

i'm siding with the L029, seeing as i already have 2 large whitespot L240s, one of similar size and it's not the same fish.
