I have a similar looking wild caught Peru ray, sold as Mantilla"type".
My belief is your's is some kind of motoro variant or a possible hybred with what I have. Mine, now settled in, is now more tannish-yellow in it's base color and the dots are orangish-tan surrounded by blueish-black/grey rings
(pics are when I 1st got him home in the QT tank)
The 3rd pic shows why heater-guards are a 100% must

Yes, indeed yours looks very similar to mine. I will take some more pictures once she feels more comfortable and upload.

So far, she is doing fine and started eating blood worms, though I would expect her to be more active in few days.

but would u have still said it looked like a reg motoro if he said he got it from asia?
 
doesnt look like the original mantilla marbleds from asia to me... put its ID up as a SP then.... there is no henlei in that ray...
 
Nice ray! I figure some sort of mantilla/motoro cross as well...Whatever it is, its HOT! Congrats!
