Yes, I understand.
Mike said that the genus was Sciaenochromis, he also said that it was a Hap, so a Hap must be a "common" name for cichlids closely related to Haplachromis or cichlids that were at some point of time describes as Haplachromis?

your confusing yourself. "Haps" is a abbreviations for the word haplachromis. Thats all...Btw nice s. fryeri

+2.......Sciaenochromis fryeri is commonly called the Electric Blue Hap and sometimes just "Electric Blue."

Not trying to be cheeky, but it is Haplochromis :D

You're right and wrong all at the same time. Like Cichlasoma has been restricted to the undescribed species of South American cichlids (Centrals now have exCichlasoma), Haplochromis has been restricted to undescribed species of Lake Victoria. Malawi "haps" all have genera whether they will stay in them or not.
How's that for cheeky? ;)

That is quite cheeky, but I was merely bashing on Mike's "HAPLACHROMIS" :D...I use "haps" quite a lot as you might have noticed.

Cheeky back to you my friend :headbang2
