Ive never heard of this and they are an ambush predator so i dont know if they would do that.I doubt it though.

You got this all wrong.
You can keep with other fish as long as they are much bigger or always stay towards the top. This fish is an ambush preditor as bruce stated. That 'acid' is not any toxin released buy the fish to kill fish. They just seem to lower the pH of a tank alot faster than any other fish world. I assume they have more concentrated waste
