Is he eating?

What is he eating?

I think he is, I'm still not sure though. He is looking for food and very active, I gave he live blood worms - seemed interested, frozen artemia - I think he was interested. Today I have added few live river shrimps (who disappeared, but I don't know if he made them go...). Also, tried frozen tiger shrimp but was clearily not interested (his tank mates were very much interested as that is their favorite food).

Today I'm trying frozen blood worms and some more sea food, I will update.

He is for sure poo-ing, his poo is different than that of the motoro pups (brighter and longer), I don't know what that means...

Your story is all too familiar Dave, ive been keeping Rays for the best part of 30 years and i had no luck either aswell as many of my friends too.Theres still people out there that insist this is nothing more than a nicely patterned Retic,i covered the differences between the two in a much earlier thread.I think the only chance anyones got of keeping them is if they have a constant supply of live river shrimps or mall fish,i even failed with the trusty old earth worm(night crawler).
It would be interesting to know if anyone out there has had success long term with this species.......anybody????
Good luck with yours,it looks a very healthy fish at the moment so its got a very good start for its new life in captivity.

I have seen your earlier thread. That was made me think he is not a regular reticulated.... thanks.

The type of poo you describe would suggest hes not eating properly,i wish you all the best anyway....keep us updated.

Some update:
The caqueta ray is still quite active (a week after I got him). Compare to the motoro pups (which I keep with him) he is very shy with food. He seems though to be eating, I think mostly frozen artemia, and maybe frozen blood worms. He is still keeping away from the tiger shrimps.
I am still not very confident about him, but I am trying my best to make sure he has a chance to eat.

I had a pair of these and the first male never did get eating and eventually died. I then got another male and they lasted about 6 months eating earthworms and feeding well and then stopped eating and died. Never did find out why.

Would be interesting to see if anyone has had any long term success with this species.

Best of luck with yours as these are nice rays.

Not really that long, but I've had my retic for almost 2 years, have yet to experience the random dying thing that everyone keeps talking about. Probably the only difference though is, this girl has a tank to herself away from the other rays, not sure if that makes a difference or not though.
