Picked this guy up today for $20. He's about 10". These pictures are from my phone, so I'll describe the colors a bit. He's got a light orange tint, but has some nice red in it above and below the black lateral line. He's got some blue in his dorsal. Very red eyes. Adult Xingu I pikes lose that lateral line, right? Maybe Johanna?

That's a pretty thick line, which would make me think johanna.
 
$20 is a steal for a johanna this size, right? It was at a Petland. I've seen him there for the past 4 months or so. They had it listed as a red pike for 199.99 at first... Today they had it down to 99.99, so I said I'd take the responsibility of keeping it fed for $20...
 
Well red pike is one of the common names for johanna. Considering the 2" babies sell for about $15 here ... $20 for a 10 incher would be considered a steal.
 
100% johanna there. No doubt about that one. :)

Thats a pretty ridiculous price for a johanna. I take that back, its a ridiculous price for that VARIANT of johanna. ;) There are some uber nice variants of johanna out there, and they do command a high price.
 
nice johanna. 20 bucks is a great deal for that size.
 
Yeah, Sean.. It's the one from Petland. I told the guy in the fishroom I'd give him $20... and he should go ask Brad (the owner's son), then he came walking around the corner and I told him. He just wanted it out so it didn't have to sit in its own tank.

What varient would you call this one?
 
:cool: good luck with him. they've had it there for quite some time. atlantis aquarium had a "pair" they've been trying to sell for a long time
 
He's doing really good so far. He took about 5 minutes before he started flaring at the pbass. He had one run in with my WAL and I think he learned his lesson.

I haven't been to Atlantis in a long time... I actually don't think I've ever bought anything but guppies there.
