Wow, that looks a lot like Hemichromis cerasogaster, a not so often seen jewel cichlid. If so congrats.

Jewels are african, but not african!! *lol* Most people, when they say African, mean one of the higher pH, three rift lakes. While jewel cichlids are from africa, they are 'westies' ... riverine fish used to low pH like thier south american cousins.

Sarah88 - The common jewel cichlid does have the spot on the middle of the flank, they are often mislabeled as well (listed as H. bimaculatus instead of H. guttatus). This one is deffinately not a common jewel though.
