Got these imported as Midas Cichlid, just wanted to check as theyre tiny. Also does anyone know why they have dark bits on them? And any idea routhly what time they become sexually mature?

Cheers was hoping they were but never seen juviniles before, wasnt sure if they were red devils or something similar as they all look kinda the same.

looks more red devil, but you never know. Usually at 6inches or so when they have some mass on them, you can tell if they are devils or midas. The black pigment may come and go. Its natural. They may even turn white or black or become barred in the future too.

Very nice, the color is normal as they commonly change colors as they mature and the adult coloration can't be accurately determined at this point. They look just like my RD when he was young how ever I can't be positive as to weather they are RD, Midas or a cross of the two at this age. Either way they are very nice looking fish. Please post more pics as they mature. HrHagle just got a nice looking little RD not too long ago I wounder if it was from the same source? Good luck with them, what ever they turn out to be you will not be disapointed with Amphiolophus.
