I cought these little guys (3 of them) out of a friends lake in south florida with a net just grazing along the wall about 2 months ago at about 1inch each... they've easily doubled in size since then. Im wondering what the hell they are. They dont seem to be bothering my angel's.. yet.

I'm not to sure what they are. But they look like some sort of tilapia.

Tilapia is illegal in florida so i doubt its them.. looks like some odd chichlid

Lots of things are illegal but it doesnt' mean people dont have them. Also he cought them wild. Which is why they are illegal in the first place.

you need to get your facts right milk. tilapia ar not illegal, they are introduced. and atlantic stingrays, the ones you see in fl, are not illegal to sell or have and are native fish. they are mainly a SW fish and swim up the river systems where they are caught.

oh and i too think its a tilapia.

Than u tell oddball he is wrong.. in his illegal fish thread it says tallipia is illegal along with freshwater stingrays.. and how does a stingray get into a pond that has no lakes attached to it? therefore its not a saltwater stingray.

so dont hate on me.
