I agree with Chrisplosion. Syns is dominant and if there is a "other". That remains to be seen when older.

Not any Texas in that fish...the pearling is more indicative of a Vieja species. Gonna agree with previous posters and say Syn Hybrid.
It looks a lot like my female petsmart "red texas/kamfa". It has the black bar and a little green speckle. Does it have red outlining his top dorsal fin?

Vieja hybrid. Regani maybe. The pearling does resemble Herichthys tho? I'll say Regani/Herichthys cross???
I see absolutely no pearling on that fish. I see some blue natural coloring near the dorsal and yellow near the tail. The black spot line is undeniably Synspilum. Here are some of the ones I had awhile back:
