Festae x firemouth hybrid will probably look very different from this. Whilst its not certain how a hybrid offspring may look like, I doubt two so colorful cichlids can produce something this drab.

There is no Festae in that fish. It looks wasbed out a bit which isnt helping. Looks Amphiophus but not ruling out hybrid either. Can the OP post more pics?

Well here is my festae that is like best friend with this unknown fish. They look similar. But I will post a video of the unknown fish when I get off work.

It looks like a FH hybrid, but it could also be a Xanthic festae.

No, the body isn't too round for it to be some sort of Amphilophus.

Not a lot of cichlids sport this color - at least, not many that I know of. There's either the midevils, pink convicts or severums. The head doesn't curve down as in a severum, and the shape is nowhere near round enough. Conversely, not a pink convict since their body is more elongated, plus different shade of pink.

So yeah, the body shape, coloration, and all that points to it being a red devil/midas/midevil.

Yeah... definitely midas/red devil/midevil. :/ Sorry mate, not what you want to hear, but that's basically the only thing that fits. Of course no identification is 100% definite, but I am at least 95% sure that it is a midas/red devil/midevil.
