This is a Texas, look at the spotting. (these are not my fish)

This is a Carpintis (again not my photo, its Rapps) See the spotting is much larger and the patterns in the face.

Compare to your fish. How about taking a side view of your fish and posting it. You have a Carpintis. Enjoy. :)

Nah, not a Red Texas.

Well it has a red-ish base, but it is not a 'Red Texas' i.e. not the hybrid. This is most likely a Herichthys carpintis var. Vontehillo, which generally has a redder base than the other collection localities/strains/varieties. Then again this sort of red base is not that uncommon for other collection localities/strains/varieties either.

[EDIT]

Though the fact that the wormings aren't too well develop would lead me to believe it may be a mix between different strains, or just happen to be one of the non-wormy strains which happens to have a red base.

I could be wrong, but I'm still sticking to an unfaded red texas. Not sold on the vontehillo id. Chris would know if he happens to see the thread.

As stated I'm not 100% sure on the Vontehillo, could be one of the others or a mix, nonetheless I do believe that it is a Green Texas/H. carpintis.

But yeah, Chris can at least tell if it's a Green Texas or a Red Texas.
