U never specified that the other dats were definitely nipping at him. The shrimp was the other possible culprit, right..If he's getting beat up, a wide open mouth I think would be uncommon. A floating tank is prob not the best option for a stressed dat. Can you set up an additional tank. If you think he is going downhill quick, it might be the best option. How is he doing? Any sign of rapid breathing? How are the other 2 doing? Are they eating?
 
Nice for the 180, sorry bout the dat though. It might of just suffered the proverbial "sudden death syndrome" for dats. Just make sure these 2 guys get enough food with all those fish in there. The less fish you have with baby delicate ntt's, prob the better. gd luck
 
I would only do it if it was necessary. Just monitor the 2 others. If another 1 is acting strange, then it would be smart. Get them eating well in their present tank, then all should be gd. Feed them gut loaded guppies for a short time, then get them off live foods once they're bellies have thickened some
