The eyes, I am almost positive, are red, as it does not exhibit the telltale red eye glimmer, not to emtnion the fact that plec "camera eye" hues are generally golden-white/yellow, given the nature of the loricariidae tapetum.
Furthermore, Wyld, I am quite aware of the leucistic condition, as IMO, is not the case here. By the by, in most cases, it's not the chromatophores that are missing, per se, but rather, the pigmentation within (or defected, as could possibly be the case), otherwise, how would one accept the leucism expressed by non-chromataphoric organisms?
Also, yes, the L-144 exists in nature...sort of. All true L-144 in circulation came from a single wild caught male (IIRC). I'm not 100% on this story.
