If it becomes an unknown fish at the store and new owner gotta guess what it is then that's a great shame..

Only FHs can be a mystery because there's too much in the mix.. But as for 2 pure mix, I'd like to witness the parents...

I think they look like texas x Mayan also but that's just a guess. Who knows if their parents are pures or mixed. We see just see whatever's passed on to them now and at this stage.

And at this stage they do look like what you say they are..

It does suck but I'm actually glad I got them. If they are true mayans I got them at a great price. If they are hybrids I still like them because they're very interesting and attractive!

jeez I haven~t been in the cichlid forum in over a year and it looks like everyone still calls everything a hybrid. sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

it is true people are always quick to apply the hybrid label... too quick, but those are not pure mayans. one is definitely mayan x who knows. the other appears more mayan. LFS sometimes try to pass off trade ins as something they purchased to get a better price on fish they paid nothing for. happens all the time.
