ID Please!

Im putting this here because I think it may be some kind of bass but not sure. Saw this guy at the LFS today, was told he had bass in him, possibly part bass and Jack Dempsey (If that is even possible???). Notice the spangles on the face. Need ID thanks guys.

100% not bass and jack Dempsey that's not possible they lied to your face looks like a sun fish

It was pretty big and bulky as seen in some of the pictures. Must of been around 8in. Think sunfish can get that size?

100% Green Sunfish. The guy at the LFS was probably saying that he had bass in him because Greens have very large mouths compared to other sunfish. I used to have one myself (see my avatar) but he died of old age about a year ago. They're very aggressive, so be sure not to put something else in the tank that's smaller than the fish, or else they will be picked on.

Yeah, they do surprisingly. If I can remember, I think mine grew to be about 8.5" before he died.

greens can grow to be 8-9 inches some varieties of sun fish can grow to be up to 14 inches
