This guy was a adoption from petco. Someone turned him in because it killed all there community fish lol

An African cichlid..It's some type of psudotropheus,also known as mbuna.
Malawi.They are a huge family and probably all of them are from there....not surprised that this one was turned in as they can be very quarrelsome and an owner who does not know about them is in for some disappointments.
I thought that also but it looks like it have quite a few characteristics of Johanni as well
