It was definately a Hypancistrus sp. L260 crossed with another similar species, and this is what they got.

Perhaps you should ask for photos of the parents; patterns like that do not generally just appear out of nowhere--maybe the parents were misidentified?

Unfortunately I have spoken to the supplier, and I can't back track through. All I know for sure is it was german bred and a L260 cross of some sort. To be honest, it was ordered out of curiosity when i ordered a bunch of L260s and L. heterodon at the same time. I agree though, I am taking the sellers word for it that half of the cross was L260.
