I’m planning on buying this fish. It is being sold as a Vaillantii. I’ve asked a few people and some said yes to it being B. Vaillantii
And others say D. Peruanus
I’d really like to know what this dude is, thank you

Not quite. To my quick glance, I'd say indeed vaillantii. The dorsal is down, perhaps misleading Mat. My vaillantii looks like this one, chunky fella.

Indeed, the first post do misled me, it really looked like a D. peruanus. But after the 2nd photo-post, I had 2nd opinion lol. But I still keep an open mind, the overall aesthetic still a bit weird for a Piramutaba, to me at least

I always use this photo as a reference for a juvenile Piramutaba

PCF Cat-eLog entry has good photos of vaillantii of various ages and sizes, all look the right ID to me. I'd recommend them for ID.
