Rob (Chix) and I are doing a new ID thread on these guys soon. The eyes and patterns on the Indian are a pretty distinctive and heavily speckled. Also notice the streamline body shape :) you will also be glad to know that its not a dwarf and the existence of a true dwarf is in question! Merry Christmas! Hope he gets to be a monster! Keeps your eyes out for our new thread in a few months!

If you ever do get a Dwatf though by chance (still not even sure if they are real) then I would be glad to take it off your hands so I could purchase and study it lol :nilly:

Thanks ! I will hopefully be in India again in a few months and plan to take a trip up to Corbett National park :) although most of my time will be spent in Jaipur

I agree that the fish in question is an Indian goonch, I suspect HLG.

OP, you'd be VERY lucky to get a dwarf. I've only seen two that I think may have been dwarves and I'm only reasonably sure about one of those (yours, Matt).

No goonch is common, but the HLG and rutilus seem to be the types most likely to pop up. The LLG sometimes comes in as a contaminant, suchus is painfully rare and dwarves and Borneo Blacks are practically unheard of in the hobby.
