Out of curiosity, I would appreciate if you guys could ID this catfish I saw at a LFS. I thought it was a Tigrinus hybrid...
I wouldn't post this thread for just ID'ing without intent to purchase but this fish was apparently just dropped off at the LFS so I hope that maybe someone here might want to go rescue him from his 55gal tank. I'm sure the store would charge very little if anything at all since hes taking up a whole tank that normally has cichlids in it. He's about 15" long and nearly as thick as a football towards his middle. I wish I had a bigger tank!

I suppose if you're interested in him PM me and I'll get you the store's information. The store is West of Chicago for those of you not even remotely close :(

Just looked at the TSN ID chart... its says that this catfish is probably a P. Tigrinum.

Suppose the only purpose of the thread now is to find him a new home in a nice 3ft wide tank...for awhile atleast :)

its a tsn...

P. fasciatum, definitely not P. tigrinum.

i would also say TSN.

i saw this and a HUGE redtail catfish in the same tank yesterday. i'll post some pics i got also....

unfortunately for these two catfish they wont be able to get saved...

1) they are well over 2ft in length...

2) if i'm correct they were asking way too much for these guys to get sold. $300 for the TSn and $200 for the Redtail Catfish.

i will say that both are perfect and show quality catfish. nothing wrong with either of the two. mint condition and look very healthy and FAT!

i do hope someone can pick them both up but i'm sure for the price it will be almost impossible to sell. I couldnt give my 2ft tsnxrtc for FREE. catfish that big cant be sold and should be given away for free. like i said though they are nice and they should be in a place like the Shed Aquarium...

IF YOU HAVE AT LEAST A 500GALLON TANK OR POND YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET BOTH DEPENDING ON THE FOOTPRINT OF YOUR TANK OR POND.

it is at the Aquarium Adventure/Petland in Schaumburg, IL off roselle and golf...

cheers,
Laosy Fish

correction...someone might be able to purchase them as they do have a 50% off sale every FRI,SAT,SUN till 5-23-10. then they might be reasonable but usually the place likes to jack up the price before the sales....

FYI---on quality of the place...i bought a 4 dozen feeders golds yesterday and when i got home 20 mins later all but 1 feeder were dead along with my new female betta. but my other feeders were fine. always happens give or take a couple but never a whole bag. and usually with the fish i purchase from there ends up dying within a couple day.

i couldnt figure it out, then i asked them for their water paramters and it is way off from my water paramters. so if you purchase fish from them make sure your water is close to theirs or you will have a lot of acclimating to do.

thats sounds more your fault then theres, you should always acclimate any fish from anywhere, and q it first, ALWAYS.... and if the fish always die and if it isnt 100% your fault then why would you keep buying from them?
