Well he was in 20 gallon. Now he has a very nice home. With an array of live blackworms ghost shrimp and raw market shrimp. I'd say that's a better life. I'm not a noob at fish keeping and I haven't had any sign of ammonia in over a year :). If it dies its cuz its a retic and they are hard to keep and the lfs sucked. I got it for 39 bucks. Can't beat that. i can only do my best. i mean the life im giving him is just a good as anywhere else he could go.

yes... seems to have small fungus problem... up your water changes and add some salt...

It is a slime-coat reaction to a sudden change in water chemistry. The stores pH/hardness/nitrates to your home tanks pH/hardness/nitrates. I doubt that it is a fungus that developed overnight. As far as the silica goes, his underside will be all cut-up if the silica is an issue, he will be lifting his disc off of the bottom to avoid further irritation. If this is the case set-up another bare-bottom tank for him. Or not, I mean he only cost $39, so why bother right?!? If he dies it is b/c he is a retic, you did "save him" from that 20 gal already...

-Like nic recommended, increase water changes, but also test your water to get a base reading now, and then again after water changes.

I don't look at it like "it was only 39" I said that cuz he was an ass about what he said. People that know me on here know that I have done drastic changes for my fish. And this to me is more than just a fish. All my water chemistrys are perfect. Have been for a year. Ph is 7.0. If the non existant silica in my sand becomes a problem I will change the sand not setup another tank. I haven't gotten him to eat yet. But I mean its been like 2x I tried. Ill try again obv when I'm home. He was eating guppies. So I am trying them today just to see if it will eat that. I tried raw shrimp and live earthworms so far

you people are funny. how is a water change mid week going to change perfect water conditions that i currently have?

you would be surprised
how long have you had him and when was your last water change?

Rays produce alot more waste then most other fish, you are going to have to up your waterchanges by adding rays. its as simple as that

i understand that...ive had him not even 24s. and my turnover rate is 15x in an hour....just checked and all my numbers are fine. i did a water change yesterday before i got the ray. i do about 50% a week...should i be doing more? its not a problem to do more if needed..

he is now just swimming at the top of the tank. i dont know if its cuz of the severum or if this is normally. i even threw in feeder guppies that i breed myself and he wouldnt eat them. they literally were under him and he didnt eat them now he is constantly at the top of the tank swimming around still. i think im gonna get rid of him. i dont want anything bad to happen to him. and if my perfect conditions are good enough i want the best home for him. ugh.
