Is this the science name? :
Ompok bimaculatus

Ok finally able to upload pics, here's a recent one of my 8" IDView attachment 1196645
Good shot. What are you feeding the little guy? Predictably I got good growth results with my little Pangasius larnaudii by feeding them broken up Massivore pellets. They grew big enough to eat whole pellets in no time.

Eyes look larger than usual.

Seen this problem before and discussed in the "IDS theories..." thread linked above.

Yeah he's mainly eating pieces of massivore, sometimes hakari sinking pellets. He's really finicky with eating though. Sometimes he'll only eat when it's still falling to the bottom but won't touch it once it's hit the substrate. Other times it's the opposite. And sometimes he'll get spooked by a piece that surprises him and then there's no chance of him eating that day lol. But he's eating enough to be healthy and growing so that's enough for me, I can tolerate the difficult feeding, especially for a fish with so much character

Yeah I actually read through several ID threads recently, saw a few that mentioned the eye size and it's link to stunting. The last I saw you were still trying to find how accurate that theory was (thread was a few years old). Have you found more evidence that the theory is true?

Here's a pic of one of the albinos I received 2 days ago. They're about 2.5" long and the two of them are in their own 75 gallon tank for now. This is the only decent pic I could get, they move around even more than the 8" dark guy. They both ate a ton right off the bat, which seems very rare from what I've read. Love them though, excited to keep them in very spacious settings and watch them grow, I'm sure they'll catch up to the 8-incher in no time1.jpeg

I think it must be true in that enlarged eyes is a described, scientific trait of stunted fish.

But the problem is in detail. There could be other reasons for oversized eyes, e.g., medical.

Plus, you are right, I still don't know whether one can say based on the enlarged eyes alone (and for instance no enlarged skull / cranial shield) that this is stunting.

Could always be a runt too.
