  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are cheap in the right places. And I agree it is a florida. I would get it away from the fish fast, these guys have a tendency to bite whatever they can get their mouth around (and some things they cant).

im thinkin spiney or florida
definatley not a chinese
they are funny little guys

istill go for chinese on account of the markings..

interesting turtledom, lots of guys who have turtle knowledge and still we can't agree on this critter! I love iT!

The skin coloration irks me. It looks like a spiney but the shell looks like a Florida.
I think it´s a spiney . The shell coloration you are refering to is normal in some subspecies , particulary in males:). It could also be one of those new spineyXFlorida hibrids that appear from time to time on kingsnake:headbang2

I was going to suggest Spiney x Florida hybrid but I was unfamiliar that they actually exist. If you say they do, I'll take your word for it.

Looks like a female spiney softshell.

As seen here:

A comparison of male top animal along side of a female (Indiana locality spiney softshells):

Doesn't look like a chinese softie:

Note the rather large head

flordias have orange spots and are darker colored in the body.

The young ones do, this fades with age. Adult floridas are typically dull in color but have a defined carapacial pattern.
