ID these african cichlids

If i wanted to try for a hybrid what could I do to try to get them to mate?

Have a 4 to one ratio of females to males, provide plenty of hiding places, and sand is the best substrate through my experience. i have a heater in my tank and when i do water changes, i add water at a cooler temp to simulate rain, this is a good stimuli for most fish. overall the mbuna will breed quite easily without much effort from you... good luck... i'm in the process of making lake malawi peacock cichlid hybrids myself!

how big are your fish and tank? and are those the only two you have?

I have a 55 gallon and until tomorrow those are the only 2

There are both about 1 inch, so not mature yet....

one of my tanks is a 55 too. i believe i have about 20 mbuna in that tank and about a 3 to 1 ratio of females to males. the numbers dont have to be exact but the more females the better. are you intersted in african peacock cichlids at all?

Why not try for purebreed cichlids instead?

Ya i think im just going to go with pure breed afr. cichlids
