ID these Crenichla..

Pout, you are right that the two fish shown in your pictures are very similar. As is the case w/ most "saxatilians," the differences are subtle and to argue over them can be a little petty. At risk of feeding PP's already-healthy ego, (I say that in as kind a way as I am able) ;) I have to agree w/ him that the fish-in-question looks like a C. anthurus. The collection locality is consistent, as is the humoral blotch and the suborbital marking. Notice the light-colored, wedge-shaped suborbital marking and the round humoral blotch. I believe that these are characteristic of anthurus, while the fish in your picture shows a dark, line-shaped suborbital marking and an irregular humoral blotch; these are more characteristic of lepidota pikes.

1st Picture looks like this pike which is a Crenicichla lepidota "Aguas Blancas"
And lepidota Variant.

Here is a comparison of the 2 pikes miles and the picture i found

I think you are missing an Ocellotus spot on the Dorsal of your fish bro.. The one I pictured had 2 eye-spots, yours only has 1 ;)

I think P-P head is near close. We will find out for sure when I get them in my tanks.. Man do I wan't them BAD. MFK will know all about it when they arrive.

Umm...thankz...I guess. I'm still learnin myself though...haha...so don't put me on a pedistal. I am still rather baffled why you guys think its a cincta though. Seriously, the color and patterns of the same species are varied, not the body shape. Cincta have a distinct tail pattern, johanna are distinct in that they don't have a caudual ocelli...its pretty obvious if you know what to look for.

The top fish is a female Cr. anthurus. The large, round, well formed humeral spot is a dead giveaway. Compare the two pics in Pout's post. The humeral spots are shaped differently.

Pics 2 & 3 are a regional variant of Cr. johanna. Both pics are of females.
