You both should check out the Setup and Filtration thread. That is an excellent resource for sumps and filtration materials and ideas. Also just search sumps, grab a cup of Joe and read away. I still re read most of this information even over and over until I can do it in my sleep. Sumps are not hard to learn and very simple to use. And a required need if your a Cichla owner. Although a lot of people get away with out using one by using a Fx5 or two. Canister's are an alternitive but more maintenance imo..
yeh I'd go the 7 or 8 x 3 wide aswell sara, your bf's on the right track!
When you have a tank that big, you should definately filter it using a sump, I wouldn't go any other way..
Oh and Mike I didn't get the tems dude, still just monos and ocells and some poosible unknown or hybrid cichlas lol..
