Thats what it is,too many hybrid Synos about these days, trouble is identification can be difficult with true species let alone these man made varieties.

exactly. Its getting harder and harder to tell whats real and whats not. Given the coloration and finage its a euptera ocell mix.

I think it is BEAUTIFUL and should become it's own species. How would I go about recommending this to a higher power? It would be worth breeding for such a wonderful and playful catfish. I have never seen another like it.

Perfect water params for atleast the last 6 months I've had him and He was this coloration for at least a year before that in the LFS

Synodontis Multipunctatus
These are synodontis with shark like fins which have made them very popular indeed. They can command quite high prices both in pet stores and out of them. These synos grow to around 12 centimeters, so they are not terribly large, and if you have the funds, you can quite happily keep several of them in a 90 gallon tank.

They are also known as the cuckoo synodontis as they have a habit of eating the eggs of other fish and depositing their own in place for the other fish to tend as they grow.

This is a Multi

I agree that it's a hybrid, definately with some Eup in there

It has a spotted tail which makes me doubt if it's an ocellifer hybrid. I would say more likely to be a S. euptera/S. robbiana hybrid (euptera due to the high dorsal fin). Or maybe even a straight S. robbiana.

Post it on planetcatfish.com for a certain ID.

it looks alot like my ocel, but darker and not as tall, and the spots are to small, my oscel has spots like no other and ia almost 2" tall being 7" long. so i agree with everyone else, ocel/erup hybrid! good looking cat IMA
