ID this Cichlid?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The lateral line looks veija.. possibly a hybrid. not umbee, haitiensis,FH, or festae. One of the reasons i dont buy from LFS's anymore. I would rather pay an arm in a leg in shipping to get exactly what i want.

There's definitely some Vieja in it IMO. Just looks like a random hybrid to me, no real way to know what it is at this point.

by the shape of the forehead and angle of the mouth, i would probably have to say vieja. Juvenile fenestratus anyone??

Not even close. May have some Vieja in it, but its head and mouth are no where near a Fen. I have 7 juvies and 2 adults. I will post what a Fen juvie looks like if I have too.

Looks to me like either a Citrinellus or Labiatus...

Funny, that's what I'm looking at and thinking it NOT pure Vieja. Doesn't really matter, we can all guess but at this point that's all it is... A guess.

sorry for my poor guess lol its as good as anyone elses. I only questioned fenestratus because i remember my old fene looking similar at the same size

That is pretty much how I feel too. Its kind of messed up too becasuce you should be able to go to a fish store and buy a fish and know that its the real deal. I hardly ever buy any fish from any of the local fish stores around here. You really just never know what you will end up with. As far as the fish is concerned I have no ideal what that is so I'm assuming Hybrid.
