Yeh , crucian carps have a much deeper body and at 10" a crucian would be double the height.

My Dad said the goldfish was about 10" or so. The only other fish in the pond with it were 4-6" Psuedotropheus zebras, 2-3" Flowerhorns and 3" Giant Gouramis. So this fish was clearly was larger than anything else in the pond. My guess was it died and was scavenged on right away.

its possible that the flowerhorns might have killed it..

You have a point, it stretches quite a way across it's back.

actually I just looked at my goldfish, and his dorsal fin starts in the middle and goes all the way to the tail.

I think this is just a cometa.
