it's a channa micropeltes aka giant, red, redline, tiger snakehead..grows up to 3-4' in the wild...cover your tank cause snakeheads are known to be jumpers
 
pike my ass... these are the great whites of fresh water... definitely a giant snakehead or micropeltes scientifically called... red's as they are called when young... 2 feet? u are kidding me... 4 feet's not a problem 4 these monsters... LoL... if it's uR's... i suggest a big holding area for these buggers... LoL... cheers mate...
 
I wish I could have one of these bad asses of the freshwater world!

It is a Channa (I think it is now Ophiocephalus) micropeltes, adult size of 3 feet or a little more. I have had them while they were legal, and they are awesome fish!

One thing though - This is ONE fish you can NOT "put in a small tank while it's a baby, for a few months" because this guy will reach 1 1/2 feet within a year's time. You just need to HAVE a big tank ready and waiting.

That said, go for it, if you can house it, and they eat a lot - fish.

hahaha, they don't hunt, they gulp. That's funny as hell. But yeah, these fish actively hunt and with the jaw power and teeth they possess, bull **** they gulp. They bite fish clean in half, along with anything else unlucky enough be be mistaken for food.:WHOA:
