He's possibly going to beat the crap out of your goldfish, so you may want to keep that in mind.
They're usually not overly aggressive given enough room, but in a 20g that probably won't be the case once he reaches a certain size.
And yes, they can supposedly reach 12" long though I haven't seen them over 8 or 9.

those are north american coldwater fish man...

Roger that. Everytime I go in there they are all standing around the fish area, as soon as you start looking like you want fish *POOF* they scatter like roaches.
