ID this fish... Way too many pix

What is this fish? It is about 7" and thick.

Looks like a red devil

It faded to this color from dark brown/black to orange at about 4".

It happens sometimes. Ive seen lots of RDs change colors, especially when they are juveniles. Some are dark and some are light, and some dont even get red.

The eyes are too big, for a Red Devil.

red devils i believe have red eyes...

this fish looks midas to me. however it also has a sort of spangling on tail and anal & dorsal fins.

could this be a maybe the result of parrot back to midas?

very attractive fishy either way.

I had thought the same about the speckles around the tail area.

you'll never know, let's just call it a hybrid that's 90% amphilophus.

I have no idea what it is... Im pretty sure its a boy though. He has a nice water head on him also. He was sold in a batch with many others as Red Texas. He was the ONLY one of them to fade and turn out like this... I love his big white eyes... He is only less then a year old and BIG. I hope he gets just massive!
