where did you get him?

looks like a Juvi RD/midas

they are known for drastic changes in colors, markings, etc-

as they grow from juvi's to adults, so your guy will lose his barring.

He was in an assorted batch of SA cichlids. There were some RD and Midas mixed in.

They sold him/her as a Green Terror, which I dont think is correct...

It's a juvenile Amphilophus type. Most likely a red devil/midas.
