Thats a male for sure . Makes me wonder if you even looked at the pics . No offense but you said my jd was a female to but my pair just laid eggs. So one had to a male. This is what a female should look like. Sorry my water is cloady I tried to get a good pic

Thank you guys! His colors increased more since the pics! I'll snap some pics of him when I get back home. But, he grew a good 2" since the last pics. His colors are really intense now. My other jd's are just starting to get their colors as this one outgrew them so quick I didn't even think they would survive. He is the current boss of my tank along with my "pair" of oscars. The jd is the leader though. He bullies EVERYTHING in my tank except the 9" pleco.

That's cool man. He sounds like he's got a great growth rate. I have 2 JDs that haven't grown at all(probably stunted from Petco) and another one that's growing like a weed.

Nice male and very colorful, you lucked out with him. The last Dempsey I had was a male but looked like a female due to his lack of color. Take good care of em

I think male because they have brighter more vibrant colours. Females are more bland

He is my favorite fish in my tank! I love his personality! He chases your finger around and doesn't bite it! He literally follows you like a little lost puppy! No joke! And he doesn't bite or anything! Love his personality and looks though!
