Thanks. So African marbled? The head shape on my last African was more uniform with the rest of the body, that's what's throwing me off. Should be picking it up later today for the 300gal rubbermaid tub. Hope he can keep his teeth away from my datnoids and blue aro.

Just my thoughts but I wouldn't risk a blue aro with a lungfish. I kept a silver and a lung together in a 150 for a year and around 12" or so the lung started stalking the aro trying to nip him from underneath. I put in a divider and bought my 300 for the aro. The lung is super aggressive now he attacks the gravel vac and snaps when you walk by.

Damn. Thanks for the heads up. My African chomped on two Oscars but never bothered a stingray, marbled pim cat and polypterus. Hmmmmm decisions

I've kept every species of lungfish. My experiences showed me that no species of african LF can be trusted in any sort of comm setup. Every one of my africans has attacked/eaten its tankmates. The only species I've had success in a comm are Lepidosiren paradoxus (South American) and Neoceratodus forsteri (Australian).

I once read that the female marbles are not nearly as aggressive as the males. This is based on observations of wild fish. The males are very viscous while guarding the nests. I don't know if they can be sexed. I have two. The larger has a pair of Dempseys I threw in as babies for food and it has never eaten them or shown signs of agression. It is about 20" currently and the Dempseys about 4". It's anyone's guess how long they will last.
