No, it is a P. annectens. They only get around 3 feet. well some may get 40 inches like Grifs, but this definitely isn't a marble.Marble, beautiful fish they get real big.

Here is a marble (P. aethiopicus) for a comparision.![]()
To be honest the requirements are not different at all, it's just if you want a marble for more than I guess 10 years, then expect a 5 foot fish. If you want a west african (what you have) then 40" max
How big is he?

I've kept every species of lungfish. My experiences showed me that no species of african LF can be trusted in any sort of comm setup. Every one of my africans has attacked/eaten its tankmates. The only species I've had success in a comm are Lepidosiren paradoxus (South American) and Neoceratodus forsteri (Australian).
Oddball how big of a tank did you have the SA in? I grew out my SA in a 90g and he never tried to eat anyone, but really stressed them all out at night.
You can house an SAL with roommates. They won't bite chunks out of them like the Africans. I would have a 125 as an adult, but growing just something that matches the size of the fish. They aren't real active.I'm not Oddball, but I'm odd.You can house an SAL with roommates. They won't bite chunks out of them like the Africans.
