ID THIS NATIVE ASAP!!

I'm gonna hazard an educated guess at blackspot shiner or sand shiner but I only know Texas species so I'm probably wrong.
The pictures got me close but to be sure check for the traits in the links.

The only thing I'm relatively certain of is that they're a Notropis sp.
The sand shiner isn't listed in MD.

Btw, you have 8 species of Notropis in your state, and three are listed as endagered or threatened, and a 4th similar species is listed as a conservation concern.
So you should probably not be collecting anymore since they're difficult to ID.

Yeah, I edited it out because I didn't notice. My mind is all over the place today.
I know the feeling. Been cleaning and now I'm trying to ID a bunch of water bugs.
NANFA forum has a section on minnows, and several people who are members of NANFA (North American Native fish Association) keep minnows as pets and would be able to help you with ID and laws on which ones you can keep (so that you do not dipnet a endangered Minnow).
