Good luck with that one. An amazon that's been ignored is worse than a pissed off alligator who hasn't eaten in a month . I have rescued a crapload of birds and amazons have always been my arch nemesis. Don't get me wrong , I love amazons and all parrots for that matter. Hope he finds a great home. Oh and he looks like a yellow nape but hard to tell from that pic. Make sure he gets a better/bigger cage and some real toys too.

I'm strongly leaning towards blue-fronted amazon now.. They're common (relatively) and have been for years.
Tell me this guy doesn't look really really close to the mystery bird --> http://www.flickr.com/photos/18519023@N00/1187191181

It's not a yellow nape.. The head would be entirely or almost entirely green. Also unlikely to have that yellow mask. If they did it wouldn't be smoothly rounded.
I was wrong about it possibly being a yellow shoulder and it's not a double-yellow head, they have bone colored beaks and this one clearly has black.
I looked through some pictures and books and I can't think of any it could be other than an orange wing or blue front. Some of the pictures don't match (hey, they vary) but this bird isn't in the best shape or position/lighting for pictures so an exact lookalike would be tough to find.

Anyway, here's a link to some pictures of the orange wing

But "Sam" on this next page looks more like the orange wings I used to see with more yellow/white than blue on his face.

The blue fronted amazon looks like the most likely answer. The yellow on their face can be almost non existent or extend to the neck/shoulder and anything in between. It's usually fairly even, not overly ragged or choppy like many other amazons.
