The tail is obviously red to me. And as kno4te said the adipose fin is a diffinitive characteristic. It looks to be tat to me.

lfs ordered it as armatus and inventory listed it as armatus too but it looks too much of a tats to me though.

yes, those three pictures are for the same fish. im really stump on this payara though. although the adipose fin is same color as the tail, it swims like an armatus and doesnt have big black eyes like tats

Tat I just picked up this morning. 4-5in 35 bucks.Already have 3 7in but couldn't resist the pickup . They are nice fish to keep and I would also say it's a tat just from my experience with them
