I am still thinking Aulonocara Chitande Type North. I can rule out Ruby Red and Ethelwynnae. I breed all of them so I am still saying North. It probably is a male and only guessing by the colors showing at its size. If you notice the blue line under the black line on the dorsal, Slight purple hue to its sides and the light barring on its sides those are all traits of the north. Only other possible one I can think that has blue stripe in the dorsal is a Mozambique and then it would have a white not black stripe over top. This is definately a Aulonocara AKA Peacock. The head shape even young has the double curve very slightly.

Thank you Alton for the detailed description.

here are a few more shots, the fish has now been in the tank over a week, has settled in nicely, eats like crazy, no signs of stress...

Here is a link to the profile of the Aulonocara Sp Chitande Type North.... http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1420 If you look under the picture to the right side you can choose different pics. There is a few variants to this species, the ones shown here are the Nkhata Bay variant. I am sure that is what yours will turn out to look like. If you look at the Anal fin closely it may appear to be redish/Yellow, but the egg spots are so close they actually run together, personally I like that and breed the males with more egg spots so the offspring have more. At about 2-21/2 you will see the colors begin to show more and during a spawn these guys have one of the coolest features I have ever seen. The under side of their mouth will flare out and turn jet black. You will love it, I will post a pic of my male during a spawn. Also the Nkhata Bay variant has the Yellow behind the head, Hence their nickname "Yellowhead" The other variants are less pronounced. CTN.jpg
