Zero chance eh? Wish I could trust my fish like that...... lol

I tend to agree with Zeke. PTC are slow growers. Oscars aren't. My bet is the Oscar will eventually try to eat it, if not successful the PTC will probably kill itself trying to jump out.

I am enlightened. Had no idea Oscars max out at a foot or so.

My rays are slow too. Doesn't stop them from eating fish I wish they didn't. :(

Only one way to find out..... Not like its an ATF priced feeder if it ends up eaten..... lol

You might have a few months to watch them together, or the Oscar ,being smart like a dern velociraptor might chase it one day and notices It loses a scale. From that point forward, not only is it fun for the Oscar to chase it because it cannot get away,it also makes food he notices when he chases it( i.e. scales) . From that second on the Oscar is being rewarded twice over with fun and food. Eventually leading to it jumping out of the tank or being beaten to death because the fish isn't losing anymore scales for the Oscar to eat. Fish cannot reason. I hope I am completely wrong and they live great together. I being a human, can reason. That's the reason I posted my response. Seriously hope everything goes great. Just keep that in the back of your mind. If you notice the Chalceus acting skittish or you see the Oscar or the Dempsey make an aggressive move towards it,you better act. Just one night or day you're at work, if that long, is all it takes. Thanks

What I'm saying is why would an oscar choose to pick on this instead of a silver dollar (basically the #1 dither for oscars) or a flagtail (very similar body style and primarily silver with a colored tail)?

Side note my O died mysteriously (see thread about it)

I saw that. That sucks :(

The Oscar would tend to feed upwards, like most fish that have jaws shape like them. The Chalceus are longer, skinnier, more skittish, and would be silhouetted on the top of the tank for the Oscar to see constantly. The headstander is smaller and would hide. Silver Dollars are wider and not easily swallowed. The Chalceus genus only defense is to escape, QUICKLY! It will be loosing scales possibly in the process and possibly leaping from the tank when it has no other options. Just my opinion. Sorry to hear about your Oscar friend. I haven't read your post about it yet.Thanks.
