ID this Pleco!

On the Rio Araguaia, I wish...
Help me ID this pleco, it looks like a panaque of some sort, alot like a blue eyed panaque without the blue eyes. Its all black with subtle black stripes like a royal pleco would have and currently about 5-6" long. If anyone knows what it is, is $20 a good price? Thanks ~Trent

I would but it for $20. You can ID it yourself on planet catfish.
 
its Def a panaque, but the Specie I cant tell. You can prolly find it on Planetcatfish.com though. Def worth 20.00 in my book.
 
Any Panaque that size is worth $20!

It looks like a really stressed out royal pleco to me.. Like it turned dark black from stress and that is why its so hard to distinguish it.
 
Thats kinda what I was thinking, alright its probably decided, it shouldn't be stressed out though, its at the aquarium store I work at and in with nothing but mollies so nothings messing with it but we will see, if any one finds a positive id though, please let me know because I really don't wanna sort though all the pleco's on planetcatfish...... i'd say if your not sure what it is and you work in a fish store its definately worth $20. i believe i paid $25 for a really small common royal here in tx...thats what they where going for at several places.
 
not a very clear pic..but the eye color seem to be dull purplish to me..if it is so and with the subtle black broken lines..then it could be L191...but i wonder why the fish is black in such a bright environment..could it be sick?
 
The pleco isn't sick, we've had it for a while and it isn't stressed I don't think because it shares a tank with some mollies. I couldn't find one like it in the aqualog pleco book so either its way different colored right now for some unknown reason or just a really dark royal of some kind. We get royals in all the time, I'm in lubbock, tx, and they are usually 25 or 30 depending on size, this pleco is 29.99 but with the discount its 20 bucks roughly. I'm gonna decide tomorrow after I find out if we can get some fish in that I wanted and if not I'm going to pick him up along with a baby RTC that I've been feeding behind the "mans" back :) Thanks for the help guys ~Trent
