he has a full on 300 gallon salt tank
but i doubt we can just flop that ray straight into salt and aspect it to live

have him start converting it... slowly add more and more salt to it, if its the only fish in that tank

i ain't no expert on rays but the first thing that came to my mind was "saltwater"....i'm pretty sure that all freshwater rays from south america are perfectly round, while this guy has a rather rhomboid shape
might be a mekong giant ray though, if such a thing even exists
saw a pic once in a documentary...thing was huuuuuuuge and looked quite like this lil' fella

i dont know enough about them to say just drop it in but... IMO he needs to do something before it makes the water go bad and more then just the ray dies

Definitely not South American,it looks to me like one of the Himantura group, most are brackish with a couple that live in fresh, these rays are found in Thailand,Cambodia,Borneo etc, they are said to be difficult to raise in captivity.

x2, ive never kept these, but id think that if you just dumped it into salt water, itd probably die from shock.

Judging by the red algae growing on the sand(Substrate) you would assume this ray is already in salt water, ive never seen algae this colour in pure fresh....what does anyone else think?
