So you caught this one took it home.. your FH is attacking it?
What makes you think it wont attack the other one you bring into the tank?
I'm not trying to be rude but I agree with a lot of people here.
If you didn't plan on really keeping it, why did you bring it home?
My dad Forgot to release back to the pond :l

So living the life in 1 week and its over ..

Back to the original question. What kind of fish is it???? There are many 2" minnows that look exactly like that in the creek at my family farm. I frequently bring a few home for my tanks. It's not legal to do that here, but I do it anyway.

I dont have time to reed all this but its Lepomis macrochirus X Lepomis gibbosus. Aka bluegill x pumpkinseed
Did you get that from the gill and fins?

IMO its just a backcross of Green x Bluegill hybrid to Bluegill. Not F1 Greengill for sure.

I don't think it is hybrid between Bluegill and Pumpkinseed because Bluegill and Green can have blue streaks on the gills. And how you explain about the big mouth?

I agree with you MN Rebel it definately looks like a backcross Greengill/Bluegill...Ive seen Green gills with the spot and with out it, and I always look for the blue streaks, bigger mouth and bigger hump........but then again because of the side markings and gills it could be a Pumpkinseed/Green hybrid. Hybrids are tough!

I don't think it's possible to really determine the percentage. There's a chance you guys are right. It doesn't look quite like the 50/50 greengill crosses I've seen, but they don't all look typical. I do see more bluegill than green.

Either way I don't see pumpkinseed at all. I would like to know how a pumpkinseed x bluegill determination was made. This fish has a fairly large mouth and neither a bluegill nor a pumpkinseed do.
