and its a female!!!!!
are you saying this cause you think the op is referencing to a breeding dress? Pictures suck, never liked blackberrys, but from what I can see looks almost identical to my male escondido when he was younger. Def carpintis, but clearer pics of the face like jcardona mentioned will give a hell of a better answer..

did u get it from Fish town USA? that one is female for sure and seems pregnant. Not an Escondido though.

They have a sh*t load of tex right now over at fish town. Are they caprintis or regular cyano? They're labeled as regular tex so I passed.....

i asked them, they said carpintis, and i was the one who requested a week earlier. One in front of fish bags are carpintis, and next row are bigger texas which are regular texas.
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246540 scroll down and u will see how stunning these will look when they become adults.
50 of them living peacefully in a 20g tank, but when i keep 2 in a 29g, the female has beatened up by the other unsexed carp.
i have normal texas too(cyano), small whitish spots, smaller than 2 carp and so aggressive.

I say female because half of its body toward end is black, and black blotch on its dorsal fin is another indication of a female carpintis.

Thanks Dom, I ended up buying one from FishFarm because I still had some store credit lol. Was about $10 shipped. Maybe I should pick another one up just to see what it looks like with more size.

I don't think mines an escondido. Its not as teal as the other ones I've had (that all died :( I have the worst luck with carpintis). Here's some pics, you can judge. Pics suck sorry. The gold is just from the flash, in regular tank light he's always blue/green.
