ID this turtle I caught today

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i saw these for sale betfore very cute little things forgot the name tho

Isn't that true with most turtles though?

lol i guess but the little RES didn't seem to hurt as bad and the soft shells plus they got nasty tempers and like to bite alot more.

the spiny shells get a lot bigger i believe the soft shells stay under 10 inches, but you have to have a special permit to collect from the wild in TX, somthing like a non-game permit like a fishing license or somthing

Oh you do? Well that's fine since a put him back. Thanks again for the ID....I was just curious what he was. As mentioned, I can catch little baby RES in the shallows, and I've caught two snapping turtles but never even seen one of these.

:cry::cry::cry: I wish I could find baby turtles like you can. Even if did find some it would be illegal to take them I think especially if its a Western Painted.

Looks like they can get up to 21". Sure glad I didn't keep him now.
you would be dead before it got that big they live to be 50 years old but once they get that big they sure make a good soup lol
