the fish in the pic is a spotted sleeper goby (water cow is what pet stores call them) they can get 16in. they will eat anything they can fit in their mouth. the have teeth much like what redtail catfish have.not really aggressive to fish they cant eat. the marbled sleeper goby is very different from the water cow, marbled goby can grow to 32in. they also will eat anything that can fit in their mouth buththey have larger mouths than the spotted they can also eat fish over half the lenth of their own body. they can consume their own body wieght in food in a day. they have teeth like a wolfish but shorter not brillo catfish type teeth like the spotted. they are more aggressive than the spotted and love caves and will defend the caves but not really a aggressive fish either. i have keep marbled goby about 17 years now i have 1 14 in male marbled goby almost 2years old. 2 6-7 inch marbled goby just got rid of my 10 inch spotted sleeper(water cow). and i have a breeding pair of peacock gungeon 4-6 inches (they are sleepers to). the largest marbled ive had was close to 18 inches in 3 years i feed that fish small mice, small painted and snapping turtles about 4 inches, crayfish, crabs, frogs, mud puppys, baby birds, garter snakes small lizards like anoles and all kinds of fish. only fish any of my gobys ever chased and killed just to kill was my big marbled chased and killed a 8 inch stingray. sleepers are not true gobys but almost identical the main difference is the pelvic fin on true goby are connected and almost always form a suction cup type fin and sleepes have pelvic fins located very close but dont form the dish. i know this post is long but marbled goby are my favorite fish hands down. p.s i also ownd a breeding pair of dovii 10in and 7in, breeding pair of black nasty 10in and 6in,a pair of red tiger moto 6 in and 5in,7in payara (scom) 6 in african tiger fish(vittas) a true alligater gar about 9-10 in and a few others. and have had all kinds of others but marbled goby are my favorites. fishbase.org will show you all the different sleepers.
